My Teddy Bears - Fabric Bears |
![]() |
When I first started making bears I bought kits which contained the pattern, fabric, joints eyes etc. In other words, everything needed to make a teddy bear.
As I am gaining in confidence I now browse through books and magazines to choose a pattern and then buy suitable fur fabric. There is a wide range of fabrics available in both natural and synthetic fibres. Mohair is the most satisfying medium to work with but can be very expensive. If a synthetic fabric is used then a strong firm backing is very necessary to prevent stretching.
All my bears are hand-sewn which is my own personal preference.

In 2003 as part of the Deans Company Centenary celebrations nine Teddy Bears kits were manufactured. Each kit was limited to a production run of 250 and below are pictures of the nine available bears. I want to obtain an example of each bear and as indicated under their photographs I have managed to purchase kits for Bruno, Clark, Edward, Rufus and Susie.
