I had built card models kits in 1/76th scale creating a town scene which included terraced streets and shops but I had never ventured into the world of Dolls Houses and 1/12th scale.

I bought Jubilee Terrace Shop and House Dolls House Kit in June 2003 from Toy Workshop in Colchester. This type of house seemed a natural progression from my townscape; I wanted to be able to recreate a mid 1950's terraced property which included a shop. The Kit was a joy to make with everything fitting together perfectly and as a first step into the world of Doll's Houses I feel that I could not have made a better choice.

What follows on this site are my personal experiences of building this particular house and trying to re-create the 1950's, a period which does not seem very popular in the Dolls House world. To me, this era offers a great deal of scope as houses of the mid-1950's often presented a fascinating amalgam of the old and the new.
